5 excuses you need to STOP making NOW!
Excuses. We all have them when weโre not in the mood to exercise or eat healthily. But unfortunately excuses wonโt get us the results we so desperately want.
Healthy Mummy Annette Palmaย says she decided to drop the excuses and sheโs feeling better for it,
โAfter having my third baby I had to drop the excuses because otherwise I would have been stuck in the same old rut,โ she says.
Here are 5 excuses you need toย STOP making NOW…
5 excuses you need to stop making NOW!
1. ‘Iโm tired’
I used this excuse ALL the time! Why? Because itโs true. I am tired. I actually think Iโve almost forgotten what it feels like to NOT be tired. Iโll probably be tired until all three of my kids are grown up and have moved out of home!
To be honest, if I waited until I wasnโt tired anymore I wouldnโt exercise for the next twenty years or so. My little boy wakes up at leastย two to three times per night, and has every night sinceย four months old.ย ย
To say I am/was tired is an understatement.
But getting up and getting a workout in is honestly what got me through those hard days. Those endorphins and the burst of energy that comes from completing a workout helped me to better cope physically, emotionally and mentally.ย You just need to get past that mental barrier and get it done.
2. ‘I donโt have time’
I donโt think there is a mother on this planet that wouldnโt love to have an extra couple of hours in each day!
We are ALL time poor, whether we are a stay at home mum, working mum, have one child or ten children. Everyone has their own challenges. The hard truth is that if you want it badly enough, youโll MAKE the time.
You will juggle things around and find thirty minutes for exercise, twenty minutes to meal plan or an hour or two to do some meal prep.ย
Itโs not the first time Iโve gotten up at 5am to get a workout in or got it done after the kids went to bed at night. Do I love it? No. But if itโs the only change I have to get it done then thatโs what I have to do.
3. ‘I canโt exercise with my kids’
Donโt for a minute think that every mum who exercises with her children has perfectly well behaved kids. Because I can pretty much guarantee you that she doesnโt.
I work out at home with my six year old, three year old and eight month old in tow. Are there times when I have to stop and they drive me crazy? Absolutely. Are there times when a twenty minute workout takes me 40 minutes? Absolutely. But you canโt put a price on the amazing example youโre setting for your children!
Some days they join in, some days they donโt. Some days I manage to fit that workout in while myย eight month old is napping, other days I use him as my weight! We make it fun. We make it work for us.
I also love that Iโve discovered a kid friendly place to do group fitness. Itโs so nice to meet new people, get a workout in and not worry about paying for a crรจche on top of classes.
4. ‘Eating healthy is too expensive’
Before The Healthy Mummy this would have been one of my top excuses. But I was 100% wrong.
The 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge has shown me that with a bit of planning and preparation healthy eating does not have to be too expensive.
In fact, my grocery bill is actually cheaper now than it was when I was buying all our snacks, as well as pre-made sauces and packaged foods. Plus,I love that my shopping trolley is always full of fresh fruit and veggies now!
5. ‘Itโs too hard’
I can totally relate to this. You want the results to be instant and when theyโre not it can feel like all the hard work just isnโt worth it. But you know what? It totally is.
Feeling confident in your clothes, in your body and within yourself is 100 per cent worth it. And behind every amazing weight loss transformation you see is a whole lot of hard work, dedication and determination.
Nothing worthwhile ever comes easy!
