The secret motivational tools two mums used to lose over 7 stone

Healthy mummiesย Nikki Oโ€™Brien and Holly Ogden share their two secret motivational tools that helped them to lose weight while following the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge.

They’re not conventional tools by any stretch of the imagination, but denim shorts and post-it-notesย are playing an important role in helping these mums reachย their goal weight!

How Nikki and Holly smashed their weight loss goals

Weight loss motivation comes in many different forms but if you can keep your reason โ€˜whyโ€™ at the forefront of your mind (or right in front of you!), it will be much easier to stay on track.

Forย others, it can be a piece of clothing that represents something they are looking forward too. A bikini for that upcoming beach holiday, a wedding dress for upcoming nuptials.

For mums Nikki and Holly their ongoing motivation has come from a pair of denim shorts and post-it-notes!

Nikki was motivated by denim shorts

Nikkiย says โ€œ12 months ago I bought these size 16 shorts thinking I wouldnโ€™t be too far off fitting into them. When I got home and put them on I burst into tears!ย 

I had already lost 1.8st. and although everyone else could see it, I couldnโ€™t as I was still so unhappy with my weight.โ€


But despite the tears streaming down her face, Nikki vowed that in the next 12 months she would fit into them. And that she did โ€“ with room to spare!

Nikkiโ€™s results

Nikki says,ย โ€œI have been scared to try the shorts on to be honestโ€ฆ. but today I plucked up the courage, and check it out!

Not only do they do up, I can literally fit my whole arm into each leg WITH my leg!ย 

In 18 months I have lost 3.2st.ย  and now itโ€™s time to tone and strengthen and I AM PUMPED!!ย 

It looks like I am going to have to go shopping for smaller denim shorts for Summer!ย

Holly was motivated byย post-it-notes

Holly first started following the Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenges after she had her first son.

Her initial motivation for losing weight cameย after sheย saw a photo of herself standing next toย her twin sister. She felt her sister looked amazing and was ashamed at how she had let herself go.

โ€œMyย sister looked amazing and I noticed I was wearing a loose top to hide my bellyโ€.

While the photo was what spurred Holly on to lose weight it has been post-it-notes that have kept her motivated. ย She writes on them regularly, reminding herself why she is losing weight and why she is doing this for her family.

How Holly is losing weight

โ€œInitially, I started off having 1ย Healthy Mummy smoothie a day and now I am aย two smoothie a day girl.โ€

Hollyโ€™s results

โ€œIโ€™ve currently lost 4.10st. (the combined weight of Mr 3 and miss 10 months).โ€

Hollyโ€™s goal is to lose another 1.8st.

โ€œAlthough my Healthy Mummy journey has been long, it has been so rewarding. Not just with losing 4.10st. but my overall health is so much better. And I have learned to raise my kids healthier too.
