Laura’s weight loss success goes WAY beyond the scales

Four months ago, Laura Bond decided to join the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and LOOK at her now!

Laura says, “I feel so much more confident. I am healthy, energised, strong and feel closer and closer to my goal – to see some abs!”

How Laura got started

“I had found a post about the Healthy Mummy on Facebook four months ago, and signed up to the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge a few weeks later after convincing myself to take the leap.”

Laura wanted to build up her self-confidence

Not all of our mums on the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge are there for weight loss alone. While it’s a great by-product of a healthy lifestyle, there are myriad other benefits too. For Laura it was all about boosting her self-confidence.

Laura says, “My main reasons for starting the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge was to help me with my lack of confidence in the way I look.

I have always disliked the way I look but never tried to do anything about it.

I have never been extremely overweight but my food choices and eating routine always left me feeling low, exhausted and insecure. I wanted this to change for myself and my family.”

It’s not about the number on the scales

Success on the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge comes in many different forms. For Laura, it wasn’t about the number of pounds lost – she didn’t even record her starting weight.  But she has definitely seen the results of her efforts!

Laura says, “I didn’t know my weight when I first started the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and don’t regularly weigh myself – for my benefit!

I have noticed my clothes are a lot baggier and I have purchased clothing, which are at least 2 sizes smaller.”

How has life changed for Laura?

“Since joining the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge, my confidence has improved massively. I feel more confident in myself, I want to push myself now with what I want to achieve.

Before, I didn’t have the energy and would give up. I attend a Pole Fitness class, but when I started 10 months ago I felt useless, so unfit and stupid for being there.

I would hide away and go home, wanting to give up and not to go back.

My husband would encourage me to keep going but since starting the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge I want to go every week.

I feel capable and strong and can’t wait to show what moves I learn each week. My energy is on another level.”

Laura’s eating habits have improved out of sight

“I used to avoid eating meals in the daytime, as I knew I wouldn’t stop eating. Instead I would eat rubbish food non-stop once the children had gone to bed.

Now I have a balanced diet inspired by the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge. I don’t miss meals and I love enjoying all the yummy recipes with my family without feeling guilty.”

Laura’s tips for those just starting out

  1. Join the Facebook support group. Reading and seeing other mums just like you achieving and pushing themselves is a real boost.
  2. Don’t rush into a strict diet, search the challenge recipe app for foods you love and adapt then slowly. Try new recipes that you are inspired to try.
  3. Don’t be hard on yourself. Push yourself but know that it’s OK to have a bad day/week/month. Everything takes time.
  4. The most important one – believe in yourself!
