Mum shares how the Healthy Mummy helped with her Endometriosis symptoms

Jacinta Beck, 30, is a mum of two children aged 4 and 19 months. She has lost half a stone and two dress sizes.

Jacinta shares, “I have been following The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge since my daughter was 4 or 5 months old. I didn’t join but was making the free meals from time to time and wanted to join but wasn’t sure if I had the money. I decided to join on the 24th of September 2018 and have never looked back I am a lifetime member and my whole family eat the delicious meals with me.

“I started the Healthy Mummy at 12.5 stone and have lost half a stone since then but it’s the centimetres that have made a huge difference.

“Unfortunately, I haven’t been tracking, but I’ve brought a book so I am going to do that now. I started the Healthy Mummy squeezing into a size 16 to now fitting into a size 14/12.

“It’s been slow which is what I want. I have endometriosis, not a bad case but it makes losing weight hard, but I rather it that way so it’s taken 5 months so far.

“I have so much more energy I have read a lot of women with a lot more energy while I was starting but actually feeling the benefits are incredible.

“Before I was sluggish I didn’t want to run around the backyard with the kids or at the park ..now I’m making games out of running with them. I feel a lot lighter when I walk and jog and my kids have been following as well, drinking water and more fruits, etc. I am a lot happier than I was before.”

Jacinta’s endometriosis story

Jacinta shares her endometriosis journey with The Healthy Mummy,I was diagnosed with endo when my daughter was quite young, maybe 6 months, my stomach never went down and I thought something was wrong so I had an ultrasound as my periods lasted for a week and I went through 18 pads or more my period was heavy, painful and the symptoms are very badly bloating and leg pain.

“I noticed about 2 months into the Healthy Mummy that I no longer had pain with my period, I didn’t need to take anything for the pain and my moods weren’t as bad either, I wasn’t as tired.

“By 5 months my period is not heavy, it lasts for 4 days, no pain, and I still don’t need to take any pain relief. I’m not tired, I have more energy, it’s fantastic! I don’t go through as many pads anymore it’s actually amazing, my periods aren’t so heavy.”

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a condition in which cells similar to those that line the uterus – the endometrium – grow in locations outside the uterus.

Fibrous scar tissue can form on the lining inside the abdomen (the peritoneum), causing the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and bowel to stick to each other. Endometriosis may cause very painful periods and may reduce fertility.

The most common symptoms associated with endometriosis are:

  • Painful periods
  • Pain before period
  • Pain during ovulation
  • Lower back pain
  • Pain during and after sex
  • Pain with bowel movements
  • Pain when having a wee

Abnormal bleeding is linked as well, like super heavy periods, or spotting. Some women, however, do not experience any of these symptoms and only find out when they unsuccessfully try to conceive a baby.

“I love everything about it ..the food is amazing and I love how my whole family can eat them too. I love how I can customise the meal plan to fit into my family’s needs which makes it a lot cheaper.

“My favourite snacks are Cream cheese and cucumber wheels, Chocolate brownies, Mint bubble slice, and Wholemeal choc chip muffins.”
