Pink on her hectic tour schedule: ‘There’s a reason why mums don’t do this!’
Motherhood is a tough gig as it is, but it must be even harder if you’re a celebrity on a hectic world tour.
Pink has opened up about what it’s like being a mum-of-two while in the midst of her Beautiful Trauma World Tour.
Pink on touring: ‘There’s a reason mums don’t do this’
In an interview with Billboard magazine, the Family Portrait singer admitted that travelling around the world can make parenting difficult and she’s often felt emotional.
“There have been many times when I have been sitting in the corner of arena bathrooms crying and saying to myself, ‘There’s a reason why women don’t do this, there’s a reason why moms don’t do this,’ because it’s (expletive) impossible at times,” she said.
While touring in Australia her 2-year-old son Jameson caught Hand Foot and Mouth Disease and her 8-year-old daughter Willow wanted to go home.
“The last couple of months, Willow was over it. She wants to be home and do BMX and swim team and gymnastics and all the (stuff) that an 8-year-old wants to do,” Pink, 40, admitted.
“So she was asking to go home, and that’s when I knew: From here on out, it changes.”
However, Pink says she believes touring is the reason she’s been around so long in the music industry.
“I don’t think I would still have a career if I wasn’t good at touring because I’ve never won at any other angle—I’ve never been the ‘it’ girl. I’ve never been selling perfumes or clothes or dolls,” she added.
“I have really made a career out of keeping my head down and beating the pavement.”
Pink admits she’d quit touring if her family wanted her to
In an interview with Redbook last year, the Try songstress admitted she would stop touring if her family asked her to.
She said: “If they decide they just want to be home and have a normal life, whatever that means, I’ll stop because they are by far the priority.”
We admire your honesty, Pink.
