Bettina admits life as a new mum is far from easy. But she is proud of how far she has come over the past 18 months since becoming a Healthy Mummy.
“Mentally, since I lost the weight, I feel like myself again. I lost my way after my son, being a first-time mum, with all the new challenges trying to work out life with a baby. I put on 5.5 stone through my pregnancy, I thought once he was born it would just come off, but life with a baby is so different.”
Bettina is back to her pre-pregnancy weight after reaching ULTIMATE WEIGHT LOSS GOAL of 5 stone
Bettina Quinn, 31, is a mum of one, she has been following Healthy Mummy since 2018 when a friend introduced her.
“I signed up to the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge in June 2018 and became a lifetime member in April 2019. I have lost 68 pounds with The Healthy Mummy which took me 1 year 6 months to achieve. It took a little longer than I thought it would, but my life is completely different after having a child. But that hasn’t stopped me from achieving my goal.

I had a few health issues that I didn’t expect. Once we worked that all out I could focus on myself again, and being the best mum and wife I could be.”

“Healthy Mummy has given me a different perspective on food. I don’t miss out on food when we go out, I just make a better food choice or take food with me. I often take bliss balls or Healthy Mummy Snack bars with me everywhere I go.
“I love using the App for exercise. I don’t have time to go to a gym or boot camps, so I love how there is exercise on the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge app that I can use.
Bettina’s favourite Healthy Mummy Smoothie
“I love the Healthy Mummy Smoothies. It’s hard to choose a favourite, because they all taste amazing, but I absolutely love Chocolate. I love being able to add lots of veggies and fruit into my smoothies. My favourite combo is adding zucchini or spinach into the Sneaky Snickers smoothie recipe.
“I also love using Healthy Mummy Protein Powder, I add it to my smoothies. I do a lot of running so I need the extra protein to keep myself sustained. I have tried many protein powders before and Healthy Mummy is by far the best.”
Bettina’s meal prep tips
Bettina shares, “Every Sunday is meal prep, getting myself ready for the week. One Sunday out of the month I’ll spend all day in the kitchen, then the following weeks just doing a little amount of food prep, generally just snacks.
“My week can get very busy with work, so at least with having my meal prepped it’s one less thing I need to worry about.
“I always look in the freezer on Sunday night and work out lunches and dinner for every day through the week.
“Keeping dinner simple throughout the week is the key to success.
“I love stir-fries or even just salads. I always make sure there is some kind of larger meat portion for my hubby when I make salads, and I add extra starchy carbs.
“With my son, I love making a deconstruction salad which he loves. Being a 2-year-old he can have fussy moments, so I always make sure I have snacks he loves ready to eat in the freezer. So when he does have really fussy moments, I know he will be eating healthy without even knowing it.”

Bettina’s top tips
- Set yourself several goals along the way.
- Make sure you reward yourself when you have achieved them.
- Make sure you keep your goals realistic and achievable. Life can be busy so keeping them simple is the best way to achieving your goal. Through my journey, I set myself fitness goals too.

“In 2018 I did my first 10km run – while I was sick. But I wasn’t letting sickness stop me from achieving my goal. Then in 2019, I completed my second ever Half Marathon; first after having my son. I even beat my previous time!
“The scales can be mean so I really encourage you to take photos of your progress because there were times where the scales wouldn’t move but my body shape was changing.
“At times I wanted to give up, but I would go into my wardrobe and look at my beautiful dresses hanging there, waiting to be worn again. I was so determined that those dresses were going to fit again.
“Having my husband support and encourage me when I needed it helps too. I had a lot of Healthy Mummy support from my local consultant, and a local Healthy Mummy support group. Having other mums around who are going through the same thing was encouraging, because you are not alone through this journey.”
