7 healthy Christmas treats to make with the kids

To make your Christmas a little easier this year, Healthy Mummy Challenge memberย ย Robyn Jurd has given us her favourite healthy Christmas treats that she makes with her kids.
โI have always loved baking, even before I joined The Healthy Mummy.ย There is something about baking at Christmas that makes it feel evenย more special,โย she says.ย
These 7 snacks areย guaranteed to get your kids involved while keeping them nourished.
7 healthy Christmas snacks to make with the kids
1. Peanut Butter Oreos
Perfect when you’re time poor but need something delicious in a snap, these healthy Oreos are a treat your kids will want to make with you. Robyn saysย โTheyโre fun toย make with the kids and I also used cookie cutters to cut them intoย Christmas shapes.โ

2.ย No Bake Raspberry Cookies
Taking 5 minutes to createย these are a no-brainer to make at Christmas time. The sweet raspberries will satisfy any sugar cravings your little ones have. Robyn says,ย โMy daughter loves to help meย measure out all the ingredients and then itโs so quick to just blitz!ย They are also good to let set in silicone moulds in Christmas shapes.โย
Ingredients (makes 8 cookies)
- 3/4ย cupย rolled oats (75 grams)
- 1/2ย cupย raw cashews (60 grams)
- 3ย tbspย pure maple syrup (45 mls)
- 2ย tbspย coconut oil,ย liquified (30 mls)
- 1/3ย cupย frozen raspberries (72 grams)
Method

Blitz oats, cashews, maple syrup and coconut oil until combined. (Don’t over blitz as you want them to still have some texture).

Add raspberries and blitz for a few seconds as you still want some pieces of raspberry and not have them completely broken down.

Use a spoon to fold the raspberries through the mixture.

Add heaped tablespoons of mixture onto baking tray and pop into the freezer to set for a few hours.

Eat straight from the freezer or store to eat later.

3. Pretzel Stacks
Chocolate cravings covered! These pretzel snacks only have 3 ingredients so your kids can easily help and add in extras too. Robyn says,ย โI make these with my kids, at Christmas thoughย I adapted this recipe and addedย peanuts (you could also add dried cranberries) and let it setย in a slice tray.ย Once set, it breaks really well into Christmas Bark.ย This one makes an excellent handmade Christmas gift too.โย

4. Chocolate, Pistachio and Raspberry Bark
This requires no processed sugar meaning you and your guests can indulge without the guilt! Robyn says,ย โI made this at the same time as the Pretzel Stacks for theย adults. My daughter loved decorating it and helping me break it apart.โ

5. Turkish Delight
Beautifully rich, these are sure to hit the spot for big and little kids alike.
Robyn says,ย โThis just reminds me of Christmas and were a huge winner at my Christmas last year. Theyโre easy to make withย the kids. I freeze my mixture in Christmas tree moulds, with help fromย Miss 4.โ

6. White Chocolate and Goji Berry Fudge
The colours in these fudge bites scream Christmas and the kids will want to help immediately! Robyn says, “These are one of the first recipes I tried when I joined the Healthy Mummy, theyโre a regular treat I make forย family gatherings and perfect for Christmas with its colouring.โ
Ingredients (makes 6 servings)
- 1/3 cup instant milk powder (23.3 grams)
- 1/4 cup ground almonds (37.5 grams)
- 1/4 cup coconut flour (31.3 grams)
- 2 & 1/2 tbsp coconut oil, melted (37.5 mls)
- 1 & 1/2 tbsp rice malt syrup or honey 22.5 mls)
- 2 & 1/2 tablespoons goji berries (25 grams)
- 3 tsp water (15 mls)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (5 mls)
Method
- Line a small rectangular dish or container with baking paper.
- Combine all ingredients and mix well.
- Press into base of the container and smooth the top. Refrigerate to set (at least 30 minutes).
- Cut into 6 slices to serve, 1 slice is 1 serve.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.

7. Reindeer sandwiches
These festive themed sandwiches use a sugar free chocolate spread as a filling, sure to be loved by both kids and adults. You could always use peanut butter or even homemade jam (like ourย sugar free chia berry jam) instead.
